Indeed, footsteps are the Alpha and the Omega for the Foley artist – there is no film in which someone is not moving – and there are no limits to the way of moving.
At the sea you walk on the sand – that’s how it is. But the surf will roar at the sea, the sand steps will not be audible. And especially not the detail of the fine sand flying around the shoes – the foley maker makes it audible.
